The ARAB FEDERATION FOR WILDLIFE PROTECTION; (AFWP) is a non-governmental Arab federation whose mission is to co-operate with the concerned governmental and non-governmental bodies that aim to achieve the sustainable goals of protecting and conserving wildlife species and habitats, in accordance with domestic legislation and international conventions in force in this regard.
AFWP was established in accordance with the regulations of the Unified Statute of Specialized Typical Arab Federations and the Main Provisions Agreement of Specialized Typical Arab Federations that has been endorsed by Decision No. 820/38 of the Council of Arab Economic Unity (CAEU) during its 38th session that took place in 02/12/1981. The Arab Republic of Egypt has ratified the Statute and the Convention under resolution of the presidential Decree No. 103 for the year 2006 and the ratification by the People’s Assembly. The ratification document was deposited in the Secretariat of the CAEU in August, 2006.
The establishment of AFWP, as a part of the Specialized Typical Arab Federations working under the umbrella of the CAEU, has been approved by Decision No. 1324/84 of the Council of Arab Economic Unity (CAEU) during its 84th session that took place in 6/12/2006.
AFWP enjoys legal personality and is fully competent to carry out its activities and realize its objectives. It is, also, administratively and financially independent. The Federation's headquarter located at Cairo, its offices and branches enjoy all the privileges and immunities stipulated in the Agreement on the CAEU's Privileges and Immunities and in accordance with what to be agreed upon with the country concerned.
The members of AFWP Board of Directors, Advisory Board and General Secretariat besides the heads of AFWP offices and branches enjoy all the privileges and immunities stipulated in the Agreement on the CAEU's Privileges and Immunities and in accordance with what to be agreed upon with the country concerned.
The member countries of AFWP till now are: Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordon, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Libya and Yemen.
